Super El-Nino Leads to Starvation

Oxfam, a relief organization in England, warned that more than 10 million people throughout the world would face famine due to high temperatures and droughts resulting from Super El Nino. The term El Nino refers to the large-scale ocean and atmosphere changes linked to human activity. Mark Goldring, chief executive officer of Oxfam, said that many poor people in countries in Africa and Central America will face damage to corn and rice crops because of the powerful El Nino.
Experts predict that the El Nino will be most severe from October through January. In fact, corn crop yields in South Africa have already dropped by one-third. Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)국제연합식량농업기구 reported that soybean crop yields of Central America also have dropped by 80 percent due to severe drought conditions caused by El Nino.
